General Information

Visit the city of Palermo, starting the tour from the pier and then heading to the city centre. Palermo, a Phoenician stronghold and Roman trading centre, is steeped in traces of all the conquerors who landed in the city: you can visit Roman, Arab and Norman monuments.
Visit the cathedral, built in 1185 by an English archbishop, under Muslim rule it became a mosque and was later reconsecrated to Christianity. In its chapel is a silver urn containing the remains of Saint Rosalie.
Next we move on to Monreale, a few miles from Palermo. This small hill town boasts a famous cathedral with some of the most beautiful Norman architecture in Italy.
A marvellous 68,000 square mosaic, depicting scenes of Christ and the apostles, graces its splendid interior.
